Month of Hiking | September 2025
Stay tuned for 2026 details
This September be part of something epic. Rally your mates, form a team (or join one), embrace a little friendly rivalry and compete for some amazing prizes along the way. The goal – a collective lap around Australia. In addition to the collective target each team race (not to scale) around Australia, passing some interesting checkpoints along the way.

A Challenge Beyond Expectations
The Month of Hiking set a collective goal: to walk the distance of a full lap around Australia—14,391km. Thanks to the incredible efforts of our participants, we didn’t just reach the target—we went far beyond it.
Final result: 22,084km. That’s an impressive 153% of our goal, the equivalent of circling Australia one and a half times.

Hit the trails! Top tip the app automatically counts your steps so even a walk to the mailbox counts. To maximise your steps walk to work instead of driving, take a weekend stroll with friends before brunch, or why not join a walking group or plan a hike with friends, for a natural dopamine hit.
The Month of Hiking and associated events are sponsored with thanks by the WA State Government through the Hiking Participation Grant.
